This CBS News report tells how just about every digital copier sold since 2002 stores a copy of every image scanned, printed or faxed on a hard drive hidden inside.
Depending on the nature of your business, this could be a major security risk, especially if you do any payroll work, medical records or personal data of any type.
The good news is that those companies willing to pay extra can get a security upgrade that erases documents after they are finished processing. The bad news is that most businesses are not security minded enough to pay the extra money for that feature.
So just remember, next time you get drunk at an office party… it saves a copy of EVERYTHING you do.
